Chosen/Resolution/2013 CD Review

Chosen  are  a  band  from  Ireland  that  plays  a  very  technical  and  progressive  form  of  death/groove metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  album  "Resolution".

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  to  fast  playing  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times ,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  as  for  the  synths  which  are  only  used  briefly  they  bring  a  very  dark  and  atmospheric  sound  to t he  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  death  and  groove  metal  with  technical  and  progressive  metal,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  and  technical  sounding death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for t he  acoustic  guitars  when t hey  are  utilized  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  add  more  progressive  touches  to  the  music.

Vocals  range  from  deep  death/groove  metal  growls,  high  pitched  screams  and  clean  singing  as  well  as  a  brief  spoken  word  part,  while the  lyrics  cover  philosophical  and  metaphysical  themes,  as  for t he  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  with  some  of t he  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Chosen  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  progressive,  technical,  death  and  groove  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should c heck  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Engines  Of  Belief"  "Mental  Clarity"  "Instinct"  and  "Metaphysical  Contradiction".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
